Country Kids and a word to the wise | Boise children's photographer

First you should know that I have a flurry of posts coming at you very soon. Think 2 weddings, an engagment session, possibly a newborn and 2 fun kid sessions. booya grandma. second, get a load of these two cute crazies!!!!!! this session was actually a few weeks ago, and was a secret surprise rush order for father's day. since that party has come and gone, i can now share them with you! the last time i saw this family, well let's just say little boy luke didn't exsit yet. that's why when a practically grown and lovely older sister sadie stepped out of the car, I just about squealed. And why wouldn't I? Sadie is lovely, obviously. But check out cool hand luke with his baby blues! he has such an old fashioned ovaltine-esque look to him. are you feeling it?

are they even real? | utah family photographer

brenley-sb yes people, they're real. no, no, no, i don't just find beautiful people and beg them to let me take their pictures. why would you think that?

although.

the fact that this session happened was sort of a miracle. kristy called me rather out of the blue because of a recommendation she received. we discussed a session at their family's cabin in island park. she described a picturesque field of wildflowers where she'd taken her daughter's photos last year. i saw visions of warm, golden light, and jumped at the chance (duh).

week of the session arrives. its raining. a lot. its raining in boise. its raining in island park. the forecast is for temperatures BARELY in the 60's. uh oh. maybe the dream session was not to be. i prayed and hoped, and cheerfully drove the 4 (or was it 5) hours to Island Park with a mixture of fear and optimism in my heart.

the day of the session turns out to be the warmest day we'd seen all week. there is no rain that morning. we can't quite believe it, and are both a little giddy. I spend with the morning with just kristy (did i mention she's a model. yeah.) taking some photos to update her portfolio. kristy and her family SHOWER me and mine with hospitality and kindness. They are feedubg my daughters graham crackers, and offering to let them nap in another cabin they have access to.

But after our morning session, the clouds thicken. I feel a few drops on my arms and legs. Its cool enough to make me want my jacket. The people in the local gas station our talking seriously about the huge storm blowing in, while I pay nervously for candy. I head over to Kristy and her family's cabin at about 5, determined to make something work. Kristy is just as determined.  and then...

The clouds thin just a bit. The sun peaks out. The droplets that had been picking up force seem to disappear for the duration of our session together. I'm so happy I can hardly concentrate.

Wow. Providence. =)

there are no words | modern boise family photographer

sometimes the word awesome just isn't strong enough. and since my late night vocabulary is even worse than my daytime vocabulary, i can't think of a more adequate substitue. so i'll just give you THE grove family. family of awesomeness. family of style. family of nice. kirsten runs a sweet little ship over at simply grove where she blogs about all things related to design and decor. check her out here.

she opened up her lovely home to me to photograph her two little darlings, Ethan and Eden. As I was walking around the grove establishment completely googly eyed, i was overwhelmed with the shooting possibilities. i realized yet again that decisiveness is not one of my strengths. and therefore you may be seeing another post from me in the near future debuting more incredible scenes from this family's day to day.

but for now...

me vs. them (they won) | boise family photographer, boise child photographer

let me show you who i was up against this last wednesday: trinity-close-up-web

fighter one, and

hayden-close-up-web

fighter two.

it was over before it began. i don't even think i should try not to fall in love with my clients anymore. sure, i know its sorta odd. but what can you do when your peering into these gorgeous little souls?

if you want the truth, the real reason it was over before it began is that  i happened to have met these two before we ever talked about a session. awhile back, my husband and i needed to get out of the house with our kids for some fresh air, and stumbled upon the nicest family at the playground. you know how sometimes you meet people and right away you sense a warmth about them? when i observed these  girls at the playground, i was struck by how attentive and interactive their parents were. their family dynamic was so UNITED.  i  DO believe you can observe that very dynamic

see what i mean?

needless to say, i was way pumped to photograph them. maybe a little too pumped. i worked them a little too hard at the end, greedy for as many pictures as i could get. but they were amazing the entire time. and here are some of my favorites to prove it.
